Controlling Ti - Ie Gibbs Pi - Ienomenon in Noisy Deconvolution of Irregular Multivariable Input Signals
نویسنده
چکیده
An example of inverse estimation of irregular multivariable signals is provided by picture restoration. Pictures typically have sharp edges and therefore will be modeled by functions with discontinuities, and they could be blurred by motion. Mathematically, this means that we actually observe the convolution of the irregular function representing the picture with a spread function. Since these observations will contain measurement errors, statistical aspects will be pertinent. Traditional recovery is corrupted by the Gibbs phenomenon (i.e., overshooting) near the edges, just as in the case of direct approximations. In order to eliminate these undesirable effects, we introduce an integral Cesro mean in the inversion procedure, leading to multivariable Fejr kernels. Integral metrics are not sufficiently sensitive to properly assess the quality of the resulting estimators. Therefore, the performance of the estimators is studied in the Hausdorff metric, and a speed of convergence of the Hausdorff distance between the graph of the input signal and its estimator is obtained.

Deconvolution of linear systems with quantized input: an information theoretic viewpoint
In spite of the huge literature on deconvolution problems, very little is done for hybrid contexts where signals are quantized. In this paper we undertake an information theoretic approach to the deconvolution problem of a simple integrator with quantized binary input and sampled noisy output. We recast it into a decoding problem and we propose and analyze (theoretically and numerically) some l...
متن کاملMaximum likelihood for blind separation and deconvolution of noisy signals using mixture models
In this paper, an approximate maximum likelihood method for blind source separation and deconvolution of noisy signal is proposed. This technique relies upon a data augmentation scheme, where the (unobserved) input are viewed as the missing data. In the technique described in this contribution, the input signal distribution is modeled by a mixture of Gaussian distributions, enabling the use of ...
متن کاملConstrained Minimum Crest Factor Multisine Signals for “plant-friendly” Identification of Highly Interactive Systems
Highly interactive systems are ill-conditioned and highly sensitive to model uncertainty, which imposes limitations to achievable closed-loop performance. In this paper, the goal is to develop an identification testing framework meaningful to highly interactive systems based on the application of constrained minimum crest factor multisine signals. “Plant-friendliness” in the design procedure is...
متن کاملGibbs Sampling for Signal Reconstruction
This paper describes the use of stochastic simulation techniques to reconstruct biomedical signals not directly measurable. In particular, a deconvolution problem with an uncertain clearance parameter is considered. The problem is addressed using a Monte Carlo Markov Chain method, called the Gibbs Sampling, in which the joint posterior probability distribution of the stochastic parameters is es...
متن کاملOutput-only Modal Analysis of a Beam Via Frequency Domain Decomposition Method Using Noisy Data
The output data from a structure is the building block for output-only modal analysis. The structure response in the output data, however, is usually contaminated with noise. Naturally, the success of output-only methods in determining the modal parameters of a structure depends on noise level. In this paper, the possibility and accuracy of identifying the modal parameters of a simply supported...
